The Women’s Contact Society is a registered affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library for the Williams Lake and surrounding areas. Children between the ages of 0 and 5 years old receive a free book each month, by mail, thanks to generous donations from the Women’s Contact Society, CCRR (province of BC), the Williams Lake Credit Union and private donors.
After Dolly implemented some early incentives and then her Library program in her hometown, in Tennessee, school drop out rates fell from 34% to 6% and remain at 6% today. Many families in Dolly Parton’s home town lived in rural areas and below the poverty line which affected children’s success entering and attending school. Children who become comfortable handling books have higher confidence and greater success in school.
Register today and give your child a head start.
